In the afternoon met Dr. Woodbury at Dr. DaCosters and showed off how much better I was. As there is nothing to eat here my appetite is reviving. It is much colder than yesterday and is sleeting. THURSDAY 20 1707 Summer St This morning some snow was just melting off but the afternoon was cold and clear. Mrs Fisher died last night and Mother spent the afternoon at Clinton Street. I did not go out except to get my shoes and see Lila as she could not go out. Dr. Montgomery went came to see me with Dr. Woodbury and he seemed to think me looking wonderfully well. I also bought a pair of shoes SATURDAY 22 I went with Mother to choose my wall paper this morning and then I had my photograph taken I was tired and cross and had my reward I looked sulky in the picture. She is much better and then she went to Church. It rained till near sunset when we went up for the mail. MONDAY 3 During the night there was a regular black frost and today despite the bright sun is unpleasantly cold. Mother and I walked up to Ft Marion in the morning and to the new Presbyterian Church in the afternoon. We spent the evening round the Parlor fire place TUESDAY 4 A white frost last night, and a clear breezy cold day. We spent the Afternoon at Ft Marion and we were not quite enough rapped up. Tom was pretty badly kicked. I spent the evening at the Hospital TUESDAY 27 Right after breakfast I drove out with Evan to Muncons It was a lovely day then I helped in an operation then Miss Hayes drove home and I took my nap. In the afternoon Tom and I took some photogaphs of the Wilcox Road and then I was driving up town with him when I met Evan and drove out to Strenstrums with him. In the evening Tom and I drove up in the moonlight to meet Mother as the trial was decided for the Erie [54] WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 1890 Another exquisite clear day though rather cool. In the morning Mother and I drove up town and bought some Strawberries and in the afternoon she and I took a little walk and I had the grass cut round my flower beds and I wrote out my Chautauqua questions. In the evening Tom and I drove up to Prayer Meeting. It clouded over so we missed a frost —> THURSDAY 29 It is a cloudy day, and promises to rain Evan and Mother have driven to Strenstrums Tom has gone to dress Fathers grave for tomorrow Elisha is still in New York. We reached Toronto at eight and then a furious thunder and lightning storm came on. Mother was missurably sick. Rossin House THURSDAY 5 Toronto Last nights storm had cleared the air and we had a lovely drive with Mr Boyd all over the beautiful city In the afternoon we left on the Algerian for Montreal and at once plunged into a tremendous thunderstorm The water was glassy with quantities of dead fish killed by last nights storm [57] FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 1890 Day break found us in the Thousand Islands unfortunately in a heavy mist We spent all day running the rapids and reached Montreal at six in the evening stopped at St Lawrence Hall SATURDAY 7 Montreal & S.S. Algerian This morning we drove around Montreal and up Mount Royal where we saw the grand view before it was blotted out by bro rain. Mother had a bad headache. We Arr Montreal at four and made the Algerian at Couton du Sac at six there was a gale blowing and the Steamer was wrecked about six miles above Cornwall in the canal near the Long Sault SUNDAY 8 Cornwall out We got out of the Algerian and were driven to Cornwall where we spent the day at the Rossmore Hotel which was full of drunken people. We went twice to Church. In the evening at eleven oclock we were driven down on in a hack full of drunken people to the Grand Trunk. (One of the drunken men Hugh Robertson by name wanted to fight Evan We had top berths in the sleeper [58] MONDAY, JUNE 9, 1890 We reached Port Hope at five this morning and crossed to Rochester at ten Such a voyage. Everyone except we three were seasick and we were six hours crossing. We were worn out when we got to Rochester TUESDAY 10 Mt Morris Reached here at about ten from Rochester Mother and Evan went on home. There is a Mrs Masse and three children staying here. It did not rain but looked like it all day MONDAY 16 Mt Morris I sat round the house this morning while Alida drew me, and in the afternoon we all drove up to the Hermitage. It was very sorrowful with a profusion of roses blooming all about it, and the grass over everything TUESDAY 17 Left Mt Morris on the 6:40 train with Tom, spent the afternoon at Mrs McClellans at Mt Jewet and reached home at seven to find Mother had returned from Phila in the noon train [61] WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 1890 I had a headache all day from the fatigue of yesterdays journey. In the evening Evan drove me over to Prayer Meeting. THURSDAY 30 Ther 32 About an inch of snow fell in the lighs night and it is now clearing up with lovely coated trees. It is a remarkably dark morning As the day went on we had a furious southeasterly gale with torrents of rain. This has been a very happy year to me for I am now quite well and weigh 96 ¾ pounds Evan is busy all the time and has the Hospital full.
